The purpose of a Five-Year Parks & Recreation Plan is to assess, evaluate, identify the needs for parks and recreation. It is also to comply with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) to received State Funding grants to maintain eligibility.
This is an inventory of existing facilities, resources and assets identifying community recreation and open space needs. It is an overall operation and developmental guide that preserves other recreation amenities.
The City’s existing park system is what it is today or the recently updated Sunset Hills Park is from the grant funding support from the MDNR. There is a lot we can do.
The Parks & Recreation Department is preparing an updated Park & Recreation Plan for the 2025-2029.
A draft of the plan is available for community review and comment. The draft plan will continue to be revised and updated with additional input. Printed copies are also available for review at City Hall (319 N. Nelson St.). Comments can be emailed to parks@pottervillemi.org or in-person at City Hall.
